  • Foundation of the Peoples of the South Pacific International (FSPI)
    FSPI is a network of South Pacific island non-governmental organisations and overseas affiliates working in partnership across the South Pacific. The main function of the FSPI Secretariat is to coordinate the planning and design of regional development projects, based on the needs identified by the members and their constituencies.

  • Pacific Islanders' Cultural Association (PICA)
    The Pacific Islanders' Cultural Association was formed in 1995 in Northern California. It is comprised of interested volunteers and members of clubs rooted in a wide range of interests including outrigger canoes, music, dance, language, history, folk arts, foods, and athletics.
  • Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIFS)
    The Pacific Islands Forum, formerly the South Pacific Forum until a name change in October 2000, was founded in August 1971 and comprises 16 independent and self-governing states in the Pacific. The Forum is the region's premier political and economic policy organisation. Forum Leaders meet annually to develop collective responses to regional issues.
  • Pacific Human Development Report (1999)
    This report describes the general development trends in the Pacific, highlighting how these trends affect, or are modified by, the small island characteristics of the countries of the region. The report measures human development, not only in terms of GDP, employment and other economic indicators but also by social standards such as longevity, adult literary, access to health services and safe drinking water and women's participation.

    Established in 1991, PIALA (Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives and Museums) is a regional association committed to fostering awareness and encouraging cooperation and resource sharing among libraries, archives and museums and related institutions of the Pacific Islands.
  • Pacific Islands Development Program (PIDP)
    The Pacific Islands Development Program conducts a broad range of activities to enhance the quality of life in the Pacific islands. The founding mission of PIDP, established in 1980, is to assist Pacific islands Leaders in advancing their collective efforts to achieve and sustain equitable social and economic development consistent with the goals of the Pacific islands region's people.
  • Pacific Islands Museums Association (PIMA)
    Pacific Islands Museums Association (PIMA) is a regional, multilingual, non-profit organisation that assists Pacific museums, cultural centres and peoples to preserve Pacific Island heritage. PIMA develops community participation in heritage management. PIMA brings together museums and cultural centres in Pacific Islands to develop their capacity to identify, research, manage, interpret and nurture cultural and natural heritage. PIMA advocates the development of regional cultural resource management policies and practices, facilitates training, and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and skills. It provides and encourages regional and global linkages which support Pacific islands heritage preservation.
  • Pacific Manuscripts Bureau (PAMBU)
    The Pacific Manuscripts Bureau, known as Pambu, copies archives, manuscripts and rare printed material relating to the Pacific Islands. The aim of the Bureau is to help with long- term preservation of the documentary heritage of the Pacific Islands and to make it accessible.
  • Pacific and Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures (PARADISEC)
    PARADISEC (the Pacific And Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures) offers a facility for digital conservation and access for endangered materials from the Pacific region, defined broadly to include Oceania and East and Southeast Asia. Our research group has developed models to ensure that the archive can provide access to interested communities, and conforms with emerging international standards for digital archiving.
  • Pacific Regional Branch - International Council on Archives (PARBICA)
    Formed in 1981, the Pacific Regional Branch International Council on Archives (PARBICA) is a volunteer organisation representing government agencies, non-government organisations and individual members from over 20 nations, states and territories in the North and South Pacific. It is one of the thirteen branches of the International Council on Archives (ICA), and it covers the most diverse and largest geographic area.

    An international organisation, the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) works in partnership with its members, other organisations and donors to deliver priority work programmes to member countries and territories.

    SPC's work programmes aim to develop:

    3. Planning and management capability building.
